Hi there, we are a family of four (2 adults and 2 children (Age 13 & 10)) visiting Switzerland for 7 days/ 8 nights. We wanted to understand the best train pass option with the itinerary mentioned below. Do comment on the itinerary as well (Haven’t booked the hotels yet)

Travel Dates – 13th June to 20th June

Day 1: Zurich to Lucerne

Day 2: Mt. Titlis

Day 3: Grindlewald – Multiple Activities

Day 4: Grindlewald – Mt. Jungfraujoch

Day 5: Zermatt – Reach by afternoon and relax in the evening

Day 6: Zermatt – Hike to Matterhorn

Day 7: Zermatt – day trip around Zermatt

Day 8: Back to Zurich and then to Munich (to watch Euro Cup). Back to Zurich on Day 12 for flight back to India

An 8-day Swiss Travel Pass for each of the adults and a Swiss Family Card to provide free travel for the children looks like a good option. To be certain, you would need to do some calculations.

If I understand correctly, Day 8 of your Swiss Travel Pass would be a travel day Zermatt-Zürich-Munich. In that case, you will just need a point-to-point ticket for all family members from the Swiss border to Munich. The Switzerland-Germany border town will depend on what route you take, but will most likely be St. Margrethen SG.

What do you mean by “hike to Matterhorn”? Did you have a hike on the Gornergrat in mind?
