    Hi there,

We have about 8-10 days to spend in Switzerland, ending up in Zurich for our flight home. We are coming from Innsbruck and have totally confused ourselves with an itinerary! Travel would be in September/October.

We like lovely scenery, hiking, relaxing and a bit of history and were hoping to see the Matterhorn, Grindelwald area and perhaps Bern and Lucerne. Any advice on an order for these? And the best way from Innsbruck? How long would generally be recommended for each location?

    Thanks for the help!

    Hi Pixie1987, welcome to MySwissAlps!

If 3 bases is not too much for you, you could first stay in Lucerne, then Grindelwald and finally Zermatt. A day trip to Bern can be done from either Lucerne or Grindelwald. Please see:

Trains can take you from Innsbruck to Lucerne in less than 5 hours, with one change in Zurich typically: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/austria.

There is enough to do for 2 weeks easily in each location. So I recommend to look into the above links and see which activities you’d like to do to determine the number of days. And then hope for the best weather to enjoy the views!
