Bern or Lucerne for 2-3 night stay after Interlaken in August?
Carol is planning to visit Switzerland in August, coming from Interlaken, and is considering staying in Bern for 2-3 nights. She's curious about whether Bern is a pretty city worth visiting and is seeking recommendations for her trip that ends in Basel.
- Lucerne is great for stunning scenery and outdoor activities; don't miss it if you enjoy picturesque views.
- Bern boasts a well-preserved medieval old town and a relaxed atmosphere, making it a nice choice for history lovers.
- Check hotel availability early, as August can be busy for travelers.
- Consider exploring both cities based on your interests before making a decision.

I was planning to visit Lucerne in August but I just read a review from some people saying that they just don’t get the allure of Lucerne. It sounded similar for Zurich. We will be coming from Interlaken so I’m wondering how people feel about Bern as an option to stay for 2-3 nights? Is it a pretty city with unique characteristics worthy of a visit or is there another recommendation? We need to end our trip at Basel.
Thanks!
Carol
