I will be doing a day trip to Bern from Lucerne….when I get to the main train station in Bern is there a tourist booth to get info for a walking tour of the city centre….and also how easy is it to get to the Bear park and Einstein house? Please advise and feel free to add any suggestions please
EvelynMParticipant79 posts24 February 2020 at 13:36:06 #929493I have a Swiss rail pass and will like to do the Kambly experience en route to or from Berne….is such a trip included with my Swiss rail pass? And what’s the stop for Kambly?

Nice to see you’re planning your trip so well and finding such support here on the forum!
Find an overview of Bern train station in below link, there is a tourist information in the main hall (as at all mayor Swiss train stations)
– http://www.sbb.ch/en/station-services/railway-stations/bern-station/shopping/shop-detail.html/geo-tourist-information-bern-berne-9b43The stop for the Kambly Experience is called “Trubschachen”, find details below.
– kambly.com/en/kambly-experience/the-kambly-train/The Einstein Museum is included in the Swiss Travel Pass, however I think the Kambly experience is NOT (it’s more the show room area of a producing company and not a museum). Find details on included museums in the Swiss Travel pass in the following link. The journey TO Trubschachen, is of course covered by the pass.

Removed userParticipant72625 posts24 February 2020 at 18:52:38 #929496It’s definitely walkable, or you have a but you can take too.

I’m a little confused so seeking clarification wrt the golden pass route:-
I have to travel from Lucerne to Wilderswil, where I will spend a few days.
Then from Wilderswil to Montreux
My question is:-
Will both trips be on the Golden pass train or just the one from Wilderswil to Montreux?
Please feel free to make any other suggestions.
rockoysterParticipant8889 posts25 February 2020 at 20:13:16 #929500The actual Golden Pass train runs between Zweisimmen and Montreux. The Golden Pass route (http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass) from Luzern to Montreux is a marketing construct serviced by a series of regular trains including the actual Golden Pass.
The Luzern-Interlaken Express is one such regular train and is the one you will use to get to Wilderswil. Make sure you go via Meiringen to ensure you follow the Golden Pass route.
From Interlaken to Zweisimmen you will also travel on regular trains.EvelynMParticipant79 posts25 February 2020 at 20:22:32 #929501So from Lucerne to Wilderswil I will travel on the Lucerne-Interlaken express via Meiringen?
But from Wilderswil to Montreux, do I go first from Wilderswil to Interlaken Ost, then to Zweisimmen and Montreux?
How long is the trip from Wilderswil to Montreux via this route?
EvelynMParticipant79 posts25 February 2020 at 20:23:19 #929502I will make a reservation but just wanted to have an estimate of travel time
rockoysterParticipant8889 posts25 February 2020 at 20:28:52 #929503Yes Evelyn, you have understood the connections correctly but by now you must know how to look up the timetables for Wilderswil to Montreux via Zweisimmen to figure out how long the journey will take. 😉
See http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/checking-train-timetables.
Removed userParticipant72625 posts26 February 2020 at 6:00:27 #929504Hi Evelyn,
if you have a problem with the timetable, this might help you: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable.
To be sure to see the Golden Pass in the timetable, enter the Zweisimmen as via-stations. Between Zweisimmen and Montreux, trains labeled IR or PE are the official Golden Pass trains. If you click on them they are specified as “MOB Belle Epoque” or “MOB Panoramic”. On other parts of the routes, the type of train does not matter. (for further info see http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass/gettingthere).
You can get your ticket (if you do not have a valid pass) and seat reservation (optional) at http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass/tickets. Although seat reservations are not compulsory on the Golden Pass we recommend it on the Zweisimmen to Montreux leg.

EvelynMParticipant79 posts26 February 2020 at 9:08:20 #929505Thank you very much…..I’m not used to train systems much and I’m paranoid about booking the wrong route, so these details are greatly appreciated lldiko
Removed userParticipant72625 posts26 February 2020 at 12:25:33 #929506No worries, once you are here you’ll see how amazing is the Swiss rail system. It is easy to use.
If you are not traveling during the peak season, reservation is not necessary on the Golden Pass. Could you tell me again, when are you traveling?
Thanks,
Ildiko
EvelynMParticipant79 posts26 February 2020 at 12:33:06 #929507May 12th from Lucerne to Wilderswil
May 15th from Wilderswil to Montreux
I wanted to leave Wilderswil for Montreux as early as possible.
EvelynMParticipant79 posts26 February 2020 at 13:34:33 #929508Lldiko are those dates considered within the peak season?
Wondering if to make the reservation
Removed userParticipant72625 posts26 February 2020 at 13:43:18 #929509No, not really. You can go without reservation. June-Sept is the peak season.
