Where best to base ourselves on Lake Geneva
Jenivis is planning a 4-night trip to Lake Geneva with her husband, daughter, and her daughter's family, including two babies. They're trying to decide whether to base themselves in Montreux, Vevey, or Lausanne, looking for a comfortable apartment with a balcony and lake view, mainly because of the babies. They also want to ensure there's enough to see and do in Montreux when they arrive.
- Montreux is the largest town and easiest for accessing the Chocolate Train and Zermatt, making it a great base.
- Consider staying in the city center for convenience, especially with infants.
- All three towns have train stations, but Montreux and Vevey are closer for day trips.
- Check local recommendations for apartments to fit your group’s needs.
- The area has plenty to explore, perfect for families with young children.

My husband and I are meeting up with my daughter husband and their 2 babies for 4 nights somewhere along Lake Geneva. Where best to base ourselves…Montreaux Vevey or Lausanne? Needs to be central and near train station.Thinking an apartment would work best. Don’t mind paying for a balcony and possible lakeview.Any suggestions? We need to make the right considered choice for our base cause our options will be limited by babies. My husband and I will do the trip to Zermatt also we all will do the chocolatre train and any nearby cog trains or lifts up the mountain. Is Montreaux our best bet? Is there enough in town to see and do.
