Hi ,As part of our journey by train around Switzerland using a Swiss travel Pass we will be going from Lucerne to Interlaken. We planned to catch a PE train at 8.06 or 9.06am. As this is an Express train do we need to book a seat or just board like a normal train . I think just like a normal train but just needed to confirm this. Also when doing a seat reservation for the Glacier Express do I need to already have a Swiss Travel Pass or can I buy the SWP at a later date.

    Regards John

The Luzern-Interlaken Ost PE train is just a regular train, no reservation needed. We’ve taken it several times. Can’t help with the Glacier Express question.

No need to have a reservation for the Luzern Interlaken Express. This train is also taken by the locals to go work.

No need to have a ticket in order to make a reservation. Reservation and ticket purchase are two independant steps. Only the train conductor will check if you got both.

    Hi Jkskin

Reservations are typically not required between Lucerne and Interlaken, however for specific train routes, such as the Glacier Express, reservations are a must.

The Glacier Express reservation and the Swiss Travel Pass are two separate products so you do need not buy the pass in advance.

I hope this helps, feel free to reach with any further questions, if need be.
    Best wishes,
    Yolanda

However, 98% of trains in Switzerland to not require reservations.
