I’m not sure exactly what you’ve bought but for the price you paid I would say you wouldn’t need any other tickets. CHF182 seem like a lot!

I don’t recognise that paperwork apart from the ticket for the boat. Train 3092 is definately the GPEX Lugano to Flüelen.

Sorry I don’t have time to offer any more advice. Just off to the airport to catch a flight to Zurich! 😎

    Hi Craig,

That price of CHF 182 is exactly what the Gotthard Panorama Express costs, including reservations, for 2 people, standard price. I can’t fully see your third attachment, but it should have reserved seat numbers and a coach number on it. Their first attachment confirms that everything is included. You do not need anything else. So I assume you will be traveling without a pass like the Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Half Fare Card. Otherwise you’ve paid too much.

Enjoy the ride! It will be a comfortable one!

The explanation I received from SBB which had a link to RhB Rhatische Bahn was that I purchased for two people (my wife and myself) a first class ticket for both the train and the boat ride in first class for 91CHF each = 182CHF total. I will need to purchase a Swiss Half Fare Card (120CHF each) and then also purchase two tickets from Lucerne to Wengen (23.70CHF each).

From my comparison on HappyRail.com a Swiss Day Pass (48CHF) plus Upgrade & Reservation Ticket (51CHF each) with Swiss Half Fare Card (120CHF each) would cost the exact same amount. That means that if I purchased this way , the first class boat would cost extra.

Am I being told correct? Is my comparison correct? Thank you in advance!

    Hi Craig,

Sorry, I think I missed that it was 1st class, but that’s a requirement for that trip anyway (at least for the train portion). Indeed what you paid is the half fare price for two people and for 1st class. So you are correct and you do need a Swiss Half Fare Card for each of you. You can buy that online and print it at home, please see the purchase options here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard/price.

You also need tickets Lucerne to Wengen. The price of that is indeed CHF 23.70 each for Swiss Half Fare Card holders and for 2nd class.

This could have been a lot cheaper though. A Saver Day Pass, if purchased well in advanced, would have cost you only CHF 48 per person for 1st class, because you will have a Swiss Half Fare Card: http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass/price. Total costs including reservations would have been CHF 130, 1st class all the way to Wengen, instead of CHF 229.40. There’s no point in cancelling your tickets unfortunately, because Saver Day Passes for your travel date are more expensive by now. On a positive note: without a Swiss Half Fare Card this trip would have been much more expensive.

Thank you Arno! I see the Saver Day Pass is now 98CHF for first class with Half Card. I would just need seat reservations for the Gotthard PE. How much would that cost & where could I buy just that alone if I cancel what I purchased I believe it will cost only 5CHF
