Swiss trip in Nov – suggest a good base for skiing, thermal bath

Short summary – read this first

Katie is planning a 4-5 night trip starting on November 21 for two adults and one teen, landing in Zurich. She is looking for advice on the best base for skiing and spa visits, given the limited ski options in late November. Specifically, she's considering whether to ski at Titlis or Saas Fee and needs recommendations for mineral baths or spas.

Key takeaways:
  • For skiing in late November, consider high-elevation resorts like Zermatt or Saas Fee as they are more likely to have snow.
  • Both Zermatt and Engelberg (near Titlis) offer hotels with wellness and spa facilities, perfect for a relaxing day after skiing.
  • Check local ski conditions before your trip to ensure you have snow for skiing.

    Hello,
In the planning stages of a 4-5 night trip beginning Nov 21, landing in Zurich – 2 adults and 1 teen. 2 must do’s: 1 ski day and 1 mineral baths/spa day. I’m trying to figure out the best base or bases for the trip. I know late November is early in the ski season and we have limited options. Do we try and ski at Titlis or Saas Fee? And depending on each, where would you base and what mineral baths/ spas would you also recommend?

    thanks for any insight! Katie

    Dear Katie,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

The ski season in most Swiss winter resorts usually starts in mid-December. If you want to ski in November, there are limited choices – namely at high elevation resorts such as Zermatt, Saas Fee and maybe Engelberg (near Mt Titlis). Possible but definitely not guaranteed.

    Zermatt: https://www.myswissalps.com/town/zermatt/
    Saas Fee: https://www.myswissalps.com/town/saas-fee/
    Titlis: https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/titlis/

In Zermatt and Engelberg (Titlis), there are numerous hotels which also provide wellness and spa facilities.

Please have a look at our winter guide for more tips on skiing and other winter sports: https://www.myswissalps.com/activities/seasons/winter/

    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Anna
