Overnight stay along Bernina Express route

Short summary – read this first

Miggles and her husband are traveling from Tirano on the Bernina Express on May 23, 2024. They initially planned to stay overnight in St. Moritz but are looking for a more charming town to explore instead. They will continue their trip visiting Lucerne, Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, with Grindewilde as their base.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider staying in Pontresina, as it's more charming than St. Moritz and has good hotel options.
  • Chur is also a great choice for an overnight stay and is easily accessible from the Bernina Express.
  • Plan your itinerary based on the Bernina Express route for a smooth travel experience.

My husband and I will be traveling from Tirano on the Bernia Express on May 23, 2024. We had originally planned to get off the train in St. Moritz for an overnight stay before heading to Grindewild through Zurich. Is there a more charming town to spend an overnight? Later in our trip, we will visit Lucerne, Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen with a base in Grindewilde before heading to Lugnano.

    Thans,

    Miggles

Consider staying in Pontresina. The Bernina Express stops there before St. Moritz, and there are local busses to take you up the hill to the main part of town if you have luggage and don’t want to walk up. There are plenty of hotel choices in Pontresina, and I find it more charming than St. Moritz.

    Hi Miggles,

In addition to Pontresina, Chur would also be a good option.

The Bernina Express route is described in detail here: http://www.myswissalps.com/berninaexpress/gettingthere. Perhaps this will give you some insights on the best place for an overnight stay during your Bernina Express journey
