You need to evaluate between Swiss half fare card and Swiss travel pass. Myswissalps has excel calculator for comparing fares under various options. You have not mentioned your base city but I guess it is Interlaken. Considering no of days you should focus on Lucerne and Interlaken and surrounding areas and attractions

    Hi Vinod2310,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

I think your current itinerary is fairly doable with a 4-day Swiss Travel Pass and Interlaken as your base.

For Day 1, you might want to think about getting a Saver Day Pass from Zurich to Interlaken.

Options to purchase the Swiss Travel Pass are available here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/price

To look for accommodations in Interlaken: http://www.myswissalps.com/interlaken/hotels

You can plan your journeys with the help of the SBB timetable: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable

Thanks Anna, first day I am reaching interlaken at 12. Even after a lil but if rest, it would be 2. Hence thought would do Sky diving that day and see interlaken city through walking ir occasionally bus. Fare for Zurich to interlaken is 32 CHF vs day saver pass is 52 CHF and since sky diving group give free pickup, i didnt think of buying a pass. I am anyway in Switzerland till 16th night and thought i could cover a little more on last day, hence buying day saver pass on last day. Buying swiss pass is saving me 80 CHF on Jungfrau, Rothorn train some savings, not sure of appenzell cable car though and since there is only 50 chf difference between 3 day swiss pass and 4 days pass, thought of buying a 4 day one. And yes my base is interlaken. Will see if i can pitstop any days on beautiful places while traveling to Lucerene, Zermat and appenzel. Hope it make sense and have not made any spelling mistakes while mentioning places. CHEERS.

    Hi Shroffchetan,

I am not considering swiss half fare card because after buying 120 CHF pass , i will still have to buy additional tickets and would not be flexible about stopping just anywhere. Hope it makes sense. CHEERS

    Hi Vino2301,

For your information, the ticket prices on the SBB timetable are displayed in half price by default. So the price you’re looking at (CHF32) is probably a discounted ticket based on half-price. This is the price you pay if you have a Swiss Half Fare Card. Otherwise a regular point-to-point ticket from Zurich to Interlaken costs roughly CHF70. You can find more information on how to use the timetable here: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable

You will not get 6 days pass. Either it will be 3+3 days or 8 days pass

Hi Vinod2301! Yes, there is indeed a 6-day Swiss Travel Pass and it suits your plans well.

I recommend buying through any of the options at https://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/price. If you prefer to buy through the official SBB tourist webshop, this is the one: https://shop.switzerlandtravelcentre.com. The domestic SBB website, from which you attached your screenshot, sometimes has problems with processing foreign credit cards/payment methods.

    Hi Vinod2301.

Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass has a fixed price in Swiss francs. There may be minor price differences between resellers, often due to the currency in which you can pay and their respective exchange rates.

It’s best to get your rail pass in advance. That way you won’t have to spend time on a purchase when you’re in Switzerland. Your digital pass will immediately be ready to use, which is very easy. And more important: you’ll have a digital back-up at all times. That’s not the case if you buy a paper Swiss Travel Pass at a railway counter. There won’t be any replacement if such a paper pass gets lost or damaged. This information may be of help:

Thank you both. Really appreciate the help. Can someone also tell me if its necessary to book seat reservation on jungfrau tickets or any other trains. Is it worth the money?

    Hi there,

Seat reservation on Swiss trains are usually not required except on selected panoramic trains such as the Glacier Express (https://www.myswissalps.com/glacierexpress/tickets) and Bernina Express (https://www.myswissalps.com/berninaexpress/tickets).

You can find more details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/reservations

Seat reservation on the train to Jungfraujoch is also not compulsory but if you want to guarantee your seat at a pre-selectwd time, you can pay extra for priority boarding. http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfraujoch/tickets

    Regards,

    Anna
