I’ll be bringing my daughter (13) and two young brothers (16/12) into country June 22-28. I will be arriving in Zurich from Nice. The kids want to Bungy jump and do other adventurous type things around the Interlaken area and see the Jungfrau region. We were going to spend one night in Lucerne or Zurich before heading to the lauterbrunnen area for the remainder of the trip. Which would be a better city to stay in Lucerne or Zurich? Is five nights too much in the lauterbrunnen area? Would we be doing a disservice to ourselves by not spreading out and seeing more? Also what are some ways to cut costs on transport in country? Thank you!

I advise against bungy jumping at their age. Might be officially forbidden anyway.

Only the 13 and 16 year old will be partaking. They’ve both done it before along with canyon swings, canyoning and rock climbing. Not worried about them being able to handle that.

Five nights in Lauterbrunnen area is definitely not too much! In fact, with five nights you will just be able to scratch the surface of what the area has to offer. Especially with pre/teens. IMO, it is the most scenic & gorgeous region of the country and, as you’ve likely already discovered, ground zero for adventure sports.

Unless there is something specific that draws you to either Zurich or Lucerne I’d skip both in favor of heading straight to Jungfrau Region. Both are nice cities but not a lot in either to attract children with a taste for adventure sports. Certainly not as compared to Lauterbrunnen area.

You will need a transport pass to cut travel costs. There is a great overview of available passes here http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses. My personal favorite is Half Fare Card. It’s easy to understand and use. 50% off of all forms of public transportation (train, bus, boat, gondola, cable train, etc etc) You and the 16 year old will both need one. The younger children will travel with you for free with the Family Card. The Family Card is free but you must request it at the time you buy your HFCs.
