Hello Brittany and Welcome to MySwissAlps,
Nice to hear you’re coming along for some winter adventures in Zermatt.

Choosing the right pass depends strongly on your itinerary, however, from your wording I assume that you will be skiing in the Zermatt area and are “only” looking for the cheapest way to get from Zurich Airport to Zermatt, right?!

If so, I recommend comparing the Saver Day Pass with a regular ticket Zurich – Zermatt, see below links:

If you plan to explore some more of the area while in Zermatt then looking into the Swiss Half Fare Card also makes sense. It will offer you discounts on the above tickets:

In any case make sure to have a look at below link, providing guidance about how to choose the best rail pass (if appropriate):

Hope this provides some support. Get back to us anytime for further questions.
Best,
Steph

Thank you so much for your help! We are traveling on a Friday in February and coming back to Zürich on Monday evening. I am seeing that the Saver day pass would be around CHF250 a person round trip while the Swiss travel pass is around CHF280 a person for the 4 consecutive days. Are there benefits to getting the travel pass if we plan to remain in Zermatt during our stay?

Hi Brittany,
with the Swiss Travel Pass you’ll get discount on mountain trips, see the details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity (make sure to download the validity map and browse the list too).
Mountain trips are not included in the Saver Day Pass: http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass.
Although if you would like to ski, you should buy the ski pass, as the ski lifts are not included in the Swiss Travel pass, just the big mountain trips on a discounted price.
