A traveler plans to journey from Lucerne to Geneva on April 17th, with stops in Gruyere and Broc before reaching their destination. They need advice on their rail itinerary, particularly on managing luggage and travel times, to ensure a smooth trip.
Key takeaways:
Use the Swiss Travel Pass for convenient train and bus travel during your day trip.
Consider using lockers at Fribourg station to avoid backtracking to Bern with your luggage.
To visit Rigi, you can take a train from Vitznau to Rigi Kaltbad and return the same way, as the cogwheel train isn't operating at that time.

Thank you Steph. This website has been very useful in planning our trip. I’ve read many forum replies to figure out our itinerary. For the trip Luzern to Geneva, I have decided Saver day pass would be the best option for trains and bus connections. Hopefully we will have a pleasant journey!
Thanks Steph. That was helpful. I will plan our day accordingly. Keeping Fribourg as mid point saves time for us. For a day trip to Rigi, Can we take a train from Vitznau to Rigi Kaltbad and return the same way to Vitznau Since the cogwheel train is not operating in March-April?
I’m glad my Fribourg suggestion was helpful for you.

You can certainly take the train Vitznau to Rigi Kaltbad and back. But when you say the cogwheel train is not operating do you mean the cableway from Rigi Kaltbad to Weggis which is indeed not running at that time.
Rigi Kulm is the top of Rigi by the way not Rigi Kaltbad. From Rigi Kulm you can also take a different cogwheel down to Arth-Goldhau and return to Luzern from there. See http://www.myswissalps.com/ri gi/gettingthere.
