    Hi Karthik_sekar,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

Thanks for sharing your itinerary. I think staying in Interlaken, Zermatt and Montreux are good base for exploring the different regions of Switzerland.

In Interlaken, you can plan boat trips on Lake Thun (https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/boat-lake-thun/). Boat services are also available on Lake Geneva (https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/boat-lake-geneva/) in April.

You can find further sightseeing and day trips options from each base in the following links:

    Interlaken: https://www.myswissalps.com/town/interlaken/

    Zermatt: https://www.myswissalps.com/town/zermatt/

    Montreux: https://www.myswissalps.com/town/montreux/

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Anna

    Hi Karthik,

You could take a leisurely walk through the village. There really are some lovely areas of the village, especially the older parts with historical chalets and “mazots” (granaries built on stone stilts to protect the grain from mice).

Here’s a route you can follow:

Enjoy your last morning in Zermatt!

    Hi karthik_sekar,

You will have to change your plans on Day 3 in Interlaken, as Schynige Platte is not open in April. I suggest making an excursion to Grindelwald and Grindelwald First (https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/grindelwald-first/).

    Regards,

    Anna

Thank you, Alpenrose. Shall do that walk on the last day (first half) in Zermatt

    Could you suggest scenic train routes that I shouldn’t miss? My route in  Zurrich–>Interlaken (3 night stay)–>Zermatt (2-night stay)–>Montreux (3-night stay)–>Zurich (2-night stay)

Further, what about panoramic trains and Glacier Express?

    Hi karthik_sekar,

The Alpine Botanic Garden opens mid June till October 20th. Take a look in the link that Anna provided for some other ideas.

Activities in and around Montreux can be found in the attached link:

How about a visit to Chillon Castle or a boat cruise on Lake Geneva? (details in the above link)

You could even walk along the Lavaux vineyard trail and if the weather is favourable the views will be quite special.  Here are the walk details:  https://www.myswissalps.com/blog/hike-lutry-epesses/

Yes, Gruyères is  good choice – you can visit the cheese (La Maison du Gruyère) and chocolate factory (Maison Cailler) which could be fun.  More details in the below link:

Scenic train rides, the GoldenPass is one option – this route travels between Lucerne, Interlaken and Montreux.  All information for a ride on the GoldenPass route in the attached link:  https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/goldenpass/

The Glacier Express route travels between Zermatt and St.Moritz.  All information can be found here:  https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/glacier-express/

I think, if your schedule allows, the above two scenic rides could work well.  If these do not interest you, please feel free to research others in the link below:

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Yolanda
