Where to stay in Zermatt in September
A traveler named Vs70 is planning a 4-night stay in Zermatt in mid-September and is unsure where to book accommodation. They are considering either the Gornergrat Railway Station side or the other side of the river, seeking recommendations for cafes, bars, and restaurants nearby.
- Zermatt is a compact, car-free village, making it easy to walk everywhere regardless of where you stay.
- If you're planning to visit the Gornergrat and hike a lot, choose accommodation closer to the Gornergrat railway station for convenience.
- Consider the Riffelalp Resort for stunning views of the Matterhorn and easy access to hiking trails, although it may be pricier.
- Staying within Zermatt is fine, but you may find most activities take place outside the town, so prioritize your base based on your hiking plans.
