➤ Saver Day Pass validity map

Saver Day Pass-Day Pass-GA map 2026-2

The Saver Day Pass is valid within the area of validity of the GA Travelcard (a rail card for Swiss residents). Download the map for details.

The basic Saver Day Pass validity rules

  • Trains and buses to villages are free (solid and dashed lines).
  • Transport into the mountains (dotted lines: cable car, funicular, cogwheel train, et cetera) is not free and not discounted if you have a Saver Day Pass only. Just a few exceptions apply. You do get discounts on these mountain routes if you also have a valid Swiss Half Fare Card.
  • City transport (trams, buses) is free.
  • Boats on most lakes are free.
  • The Saver Day Pass is valid in Switzerland only. A few train and bus routes crossing the border allow free travel too. Examples are EuroAirport (France) to Basel, Brig to Domodossola (Italy), Domodossola to Locarno (Italy: Centovalli line), and buses in Liechtenstein.

How the map works

  • The route types are explained in the legend on the map.
  • With a Saver Day Pass, you can travel on all trains that operate on the indicated lines and that are listed in the timetables. The train type (InterCity, local, panoramic) and the operating company do not matter. The Glacier ExpressBernina ExpressGoldenPass and other panoramic trains are thus included, except for seat reservations.
  • There are too many train, bus, boat, and mountain routes to fit on the map. Check the above discount overviews for all routes and activities that are included.

Saver Day Pass coverage FAQ

  1. Does the Saver Day Pass include anything other than transportation?

No, it does not. It does not include museums. Most mountain trips aren’t free or discounted either. You’ll find exceptions on this page and on the map.

You may pay less for day trip packages that include both transportation and admission. You’ll get a discount because the transportation portion of the package is already included in your Saver Day Pass.

Essentially, the Saver Day Pass works much like the GA Travelcard for Swiss residents. That means that in most cases where the GA entitles to a discount, the Saver Day Pass will entitle to that same discount.

  2. Is the Bernina Express covered by the Saver Day Pass?

Yes, but you still need to buy the seat reservations.

  3. Is the Glacier Express covered by the Saver Day Pass?

Yes, but you still need to buy the seat reservations.

  4. Is Jungfraujoch included in the Saver Day Pass?

No. You can travel to Grindelwald or Wengen for free. You need a full-fare ticket for the rest of the trip. And in high season, you also need a seat reservation.

  5. Is the Saver Day Pass valid for a trip to Mount Rigi?

Yes, the trains, cableways, and boats are covered.

  6. Is the Schilthorn included in the Saver Day Pass?

Only the section to Mürren is covered. You need a full-price ticket for the rest of the trip.

  7. What if I travel where the Saver Day Pass is not valid?

You will have to buy a regular ticket for the part of the trip that is not covered.

You can check the map to find which part of your trip is covered. If a cableway up a mountain is not included, you’ll have to buy a ticket. Another common scenario is a trip across the Swiss border.

For example: if you travel from Milan to Interlaken, only Domodossola – Interlaken is covered by the Saver Day Pass. So you need to buy a ticket Milan – Domodossola. You don’t need to get off the train in Domodossola. You have paid for the entire trip with the ticket and Saver Day Pass, so you can stay seated.
