    Dear Lucas & team,

My name is Ryan from Bali Indonesia solo traveller, interesting with Alps and sports. Have a initinerary accross north and central Europe.

I am going to up on Mount Titlis on 18th of Oct 2018 morning from Lucerne. I will reach Lucerne from Brussels on 17th Oct afternoon by train; stay overnight in Lucerne on 17th and 18th of Oct. And of course I want to get ticket fare as cheap as possible. As my trip only 1 day, do I need to buy any Travel Pass to get more cheaper fare?

As I read on how to get to Mount Titlis; I need to get a train from Lucerne to Engelberg CHF 21 – then continue with Cable Car to the summit by about USD 96. Please confirm whether this is correct?

Please also recommend where can I go after finish with Mount Titlis. Before I want to try skiing but it seems only open starts in Dec (Winter).

    Thank you very much.

    BR

    Ryan

Hi Ryan and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Yes, a bit early for skiing. http://www.myswissalps.com/ti tlis

Zermatt (http://www.myswissalps.com/ze rmatt) has glacier skiing all year though. What are your plans after two nights in Lucerne? Are you leaving Switzerland then?

If you just have the two days a rail pass may not save you any money. Based in Lucerne and exploring that area only, a Tell Pass for 2 days could work out: http://www.myswissalps.com/te llpass

Be sure to click on the validity tab to see a map of the coverage area.

Your prices are correct (it is a one-way fare to Engelberg). For other ideas on what to do around Lucerne look here: http://www.myswissalps.com/lu cerne/activities

    Hi Ryan,

Be careful with the skying: it’s not something you can just try. You’ll need an instructor if you haven’t done it before, and you’d best come in winter. Here’s more information: http://www.myswissalps.com/ac tivities/snow. If this is not what you had in mind then there are plenty of other ways to have fun in the snow!

    Hi Lucas,

    Thanks fo ryour prompt reply.

After Lucerne 2 nights, I will be off to Milan unfortunately. My itinerary is too tight for this time. However for the first day in Lucerne, I will be arrive approximately at 4pm – please advise for spots that I can visit on the hours . Then 2nd day as I mentioned, in the morning I plan to go up to Titlis then maybe you can advise somewhere else to go after (maybe to Mt Pilatus or Mt Rigi? or Internlaken – maybe too far?).

I noticed that Tell-Pass Summer has 2 different classes but I am not sure what is the difference between 1.11-31.3 vs 1.4-31.10 (as attached). If i buy the cheaper one ie CHF 108, please confirm that it could cover my trip from Lucerne – Engelberg – Titlis (valid for return as well?)

    Thank you.

    BR

    Hi Arno,

    Thanks for your advice.

I am really blind for Switzerland and other neaby countries. What I know is, it has really good Alps and marvelous scenery and one of my aim is to feel and play with the snow. But I think, I will leave it this time and take whatever you guys advice me to do for having a great time.

    Thank you.

    BR

    Hi Ryan,

After 4pm in Lucerne you’ll need to limit yourself to exploring the city or taking a boat cruise: http://www.myswissalps.com/bo atlakelucerne

You can check how far towns or mountains are from Titlis on the Swiss railways timetable and see what you could add in that day. An early start would allow for another mountain visit if you want – or Interlaken as well.

The Tell Pass tickets are described a little unusually on HappyRail. Those are their dates, not classes. So a cheaper winter Tell Pass or the Summer Tell Pass. the less expensive winter version isn’t valid until 01.11 (November 1). The passes otherwise are exactly the same
