    Hi,

Just hit upon this site and need urgent advice on our tripto Switzerland next week. Completely bogged down with the places of interest. Travelling with wife and 8 year old kid.

    1. Arriving in Lucerne from paris by train on 21st at 15:30 and checking into hotel. Anything that can be done for the rest of the day.

    2. Booked on the next 2 days via Swiss pass for Mt. Titlis and Mt.Jungfraujoch. Need to know what can be done after Mt. Titlis. Checked most forums about Jungraujoch but advice is against visiting due to the travel time. Is it still worth or any other suggestions in place of it.

    3. Back to Zurich on 24th morning so have the balance day for some excursion. Any suggestions ?

    4. 25th flying back early morning.

Thanks in advance and appreciate assistance

    Sunil

    Welcome to MySwissAlps, Sunil!

Let’s take a look at your questions:

    1. You could stroll along the town and visit the famous Chapel Bridge, churches and other monuments listed at http://www.myswissalps.com/lu cerne/activities.

    2. What can be done after a visit to the Titlis, depends on how early you leave and return. If you have the full afternoon available, a boat trip or even a visit to Pilatus would be possible. Yes, it will be a long trip to the Jungfraujoch. You can best check traveling times using the timetable and decide for yourself if they’re acceptable. If not, the Rigi would be a good alternative. It’s closer to Lucerne and for free with your Swiss Travel Pass (the Swiss Pass is something different, please see here).

    3. You could either explore Zurich (please follow the link for sightseeing tips), or visit the Rhine Falls if you don’t mind a longer trip.

I don’t know if you’ve booked your Swiss Travel Pass already. If not, you can best do so as soon as possible in order to profit from the lower online prices. Delivery takes a few days, so it’s better not to wait too long. Purchase options are listed here; the best choice for you would be http://www.raileurope-gcc.com.

    Hi Annika,

Thanks for the information. We have got Swiss Travel Passes from 22nd to 25th and the trips to Titlis and Jungfraujoch with it. Just some queries.

21st – is done. we will do the sight seeing as you mentioned.

22nd – Are Mt. Titlis and Mt. Pilatus different in any way.Alternatively someone suggested travelling to Lauterbrunnen late eve on 22nd after mt. titlis and staying in a hotel for the night and then doing the Mt. Jungfraujoch the next day so we could avoid the 4-5 hours journey. Do you feel this would be appropriate.

23rd – Jungfraujoch. No solutions as we hold tickets for the same.

24th we travel from Lauterbrunnen to Zurich and do some sight seeing there.

Is it sensible to change 3 hotels in 3 days (luzern, Lauterbrunnen, Zurich) for the excursions or just stick to the option of travelling from luzern to jungfraujoch.

    Appreciate your thoughts.

    Thanks / Sunil

    Hi Sunil,

Right, I didn’t understand you already booked your Jungfraujoch tickets. You could indeed move to a hotel closer to the Jungfraujoch to avoid one long day trip. An advantage is that you’ll be able to get up there early in the morning, but whether that’s preferable strongly depends on the weather forecasts for that exact day. A disadvantage is that you’ll be traveling with your luggage, and spend time on checking in and out in yet another hotel. Personally, I wouldn’t prefer a new hotel each night, but your own preferences are far more important.

Yes, Pilatus and Titlis are different. You can best check the pages I linked to in my previous post and compare both, to see what appeals to you more.
