    Hi guys,

we have taken an 8 day travel pass under which we are doing Schilthorn, jungfrau, Rigi and Pilatus. We have one day where we can either do Matterhorn in Zermatt or take a glacier express form andermatt to zermatt. In this case, as per the seats availability we would reach zermatt in glacier express only at 8pm at night and hence won’t be able to do Matterhorn. What would be your suggestion for us. Is glacier express so worth it that we should leave Matterhorn or should we just take normal train, reach zermatt early and do Matterhorn. We are not doing any other scenic route on our travel.

    thanks,

    Isha

Hi Isha! That’s a difficult choice as it’s about two enitrely different activities. Note that you can’t actually visit the Matterhorn, but you can get good views from Gornergrat or Klein Matterhorn. If weather is clear, such views are wonderful and I’m sure you won’t be bored with the views even after your other mountain visits. The Glacier Express is a very different experience. If you haven’t added any scenic train routes to your travel plans yet, this may be chance to do so and get a more diverse itinerary overall. On the other hand, arriving at 8pm is a disadvantage if you’re traveling in fall or winter, as the sun will set early and part of the journey will be in the dark. You’d best check the links I inserted above and find out what appeals to your and your travel company.
