Is the Cogwheel train from Alpnachstad to Pilatus, cable car down to Frakmuntegg and Gondola to Kriens included 100% with the Swiss travel pass for 2019?

    Hi Ingravallo,

No, the discount to Pilatus remains the same at 50% – no change for 2019.

You can see 2018 validity here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity and see any changes which are listed on the 1st page on this thread for 2019.

Am I correct in thinking that travel from Interlaken to Wengen and from Interlaken to Murren will continue to be included in Swiss Travel Pass for 2019? And above Wengen and Murren will be discounted?

    Yes you are correct.

The only changes in 2019 are listed on the first post on this thread by Arno. You can see a PDF validity map for the Swiss Travel Pass here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity – to see what is included currently.

Hi, I’m looking at Schilthorn Fare Information Flyer 2019 on their website. It says

“Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Travel Pass Flex

Gültig auf der gesamten Strecke Stechelberg – Mürren – Schilthorn.

Valid on the entire journey Stechelberg – Mürren – Schilthorn.”

I’m confuse as I read that ride up to Schilthorn is at 50% even with STP?

And they also state this “Halbtax-Abonnement . Swiss Half Fare Card, Swiss Card

Auf dem gesamten Streckennetz 50% Reduktion auf Tickets zum Normaltarif. On all routes reduction of 50% on regular tickets.”

I’m assuming Swiss Card and Swiss Travel Pass are different?

Can I check if my calculation of the costing is correct:

Train fr Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen Bahnhof and Bus to Stechelberg, Schilthornbahn (FREE with STP)

Stechelberg (Schilthornbahn) to Schilthorn (CHF 65.60 normal price, FREE with STP?, CHF 32.80 with HFC)

From Schilthorn To Mürren (Schilthornbahn) (CHF 61.20 normal price, CHF 30.60 with HFC, FREE with STP?)

Train from Mürren BLM to Grutschalp (Free with STP?)

    Thank you very much!

Cableway from Grutschalp to Lauterbrunnen BLM (FREE with STP?)

I think their sentence just isn’t perfectly worded in English. The STP is valid on the route to Schilthorn – IE you get whatever discount it offers (in 2019 it is 50% off). That is my guess. The Swiss Travel Pass gives a 50% reduction only on Schilthorn in 2019.

Yes, A Swiss Card is different than a Swiss Travel Pass.

Your numbers look about right yes. 🙂 Generally speaking any trip to a town (however one gets there) is covered with the STP (IE Murren) but once you go up a mountain it is generally a discount of some sort. Rigi in 2019 is the exception.

Thanks Lucas! Think I get it. In that case, Stechelberg to Schilthorn and Schilthorn to Murren cost the same with no matter I’m holding STP or HFC.

When purchasing discounted tickets on cable cars under the Swiss Travel Pass, are children that have the Family Pass also charged a discounted rate or just the adults?

    Thanks

    Hi Micheleang17,

Stechelberg to Schilthorn is cheaper with a Swiss Travel Pass because the trip is free up to Mürren.

    Hi Chadbangerte,

The Swiss Family Card allows free traveling to the children, regardless of what the parents pay.

    Hi everyone,

I have very good news to share: the trips to Brunni, Schilthorn and Stanserhorn will remain free in 2019 for Swiss Travel Pass holders! A discount of 50% was announced earlier. A number of people have been working hard to achieve this, and they did a great job!

My original post has been adjusted.

Buenas noches!
