    Hi,

I will be visiting switzerland from 9th to 16th November. Please advise if I travel from Montreux to Lucerne on Golden Pass route http://www.myswissalps.com/go ldenpass/gettingthere , what are the best stops along the way, where we can have scenic strolls, hour long explorations or some valuable swiss experience aside from cheese and chocolate factory.

Also please recommend a easy lakeside hike in or few hours from either interlaken , lucerne or geneva…some lakeside with natural borders.. i mean not buildings or city surrounding it. Is there such a site along Brienz reached from train?

    Thanks!

    Hi Maverick,

Outside of Broc and Gruyeres for the chocolate and cheese factories, I’d consider a stop in Gstaad (http://www.myswissalps.com/gs taad).

I’d think your best bet for a lakeside walk without much in the way of buildings would be Lake Thun or Brienz (but there are residential properties around)

Buses, trains or boats give access to most areas around the lakes. You might find a hike near Giessbach falls (Lake Brienz) nice: http://www.myswissalps.com/hi king/giessbach-iseltwald

The simple way to a perfect Swiss trip

There is a nice lakeside walk between Spiez and Faulensee on Lake Thun. Accessible by train or boat. We usually go to Spiez by boat (or bus or train from Thun then walk to Faulensee and take boat from there to either Thun or Interlaken.

You can walk between stations on most local routes in Switzerland – and see the ‘virgin’ countryside, real farms etc.

On the Montreux – Zweisimmen line try Schönried – Saanenmoser

There is a nice walk from across the valley and back from Rossinière station

To see where walking paths are – look here:

    http://www.schweizmobil.ch/en /hiking-in-switzerland.html

(Depending on weather, snow might affect what paths are open for walking)
