Hi.We are a family of 2 adults and 1 child visiting Switzerland ( 1st timr)for 6 days in the first week of May.We plan to cover Zurich ,Lucerene and Interlaken.

1.As we have never seen snow,we are very much interested in undertaking a few snow activities ( not skiing)Which mountain is best for this? Does Mount Pilatus or Rigi have such activities during that time. Will the cogwheel at Pilatus be operational during that period?

2.Will there be any places closed during that period as I believe it is off season?

3.Is Stanserhorn still fully covered under the Swiss Travel Pass?

Thanks once again. You guys are doing a great job.

    Hi and welcome to MySwissAlps!

Sounds like a very nice trip you are planning!

You should be able to see snow if you go to those areas, but to be sure, include a trip to Mount Titlis, which is easily accessible from Lucerne: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti tlis – this area is open year round but you should check when the cable cars will be down (2 weeks a year):

http://www.myswissalps.com/ti tlis/gettingthere (here you’ll find a link to the timetable as well).

You can find the coverage for the Swiss Travel pass here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity

All the best for planning your trip!

    Maria.

May is a bit late for snow on the Rigi. Pilatus is a steep craggy mountain so doesn’t have extensive snow fields at the top.

Might be best to avoid the phrase ‘Cable cars will be down’ . I certainly hope they will all stay ‘up’!

<<“Will the cogwheel at Pilatus be operational during that period?”>>

This may help. If not, check the Pilatus website.

The Rigi is unlikely to have much snow in May.

    Titlis and the Jungfraujoch will.

    Hi Deepti,

We are also planning to visit Switzerland in the same time. We have included Jungfrau and Schilthorn for snow experience.Since both Jungfau and Titlis expensive, we included only one in our itinerary and I think Schilthorn will be covered in Swiss Travel Pass (You can include in Interlaken days). I am not sure if I am eligible to suggest as I am not an expert, yet this is just a suggestion :). I heard Schilthorn would be having snow mostly. Thanks.
