Zermatt to Lucerne using panoramic trains in May

Short summary – read this first

Sanjoy is planning a scenic trip from Zermatt to Lucerne at the end of May using the Glacier Express and Gotthard Panorama Express. He is concerned about making the tight connections with his luggage, as his final destination is Zurich. With the right advice, he hopes to enjoy the beautiful views along the way.

Key takeaways:
  • Check the SBB timetable for tight connections; trains may wait for delays.
  • Consider using SBB's luggage service if you want to travel without your bags.
  • Verify the validity map of the Swiss Travel Pass to ensure it covers your planned route.

    Hi…

Around end of May i would be going from Zermatt to Lucerne. I thought of doing this using Glacier express and Gothard panaromic express…From the sbb timetable I saw the connections are pretty close…for example:

    Zermatt (Dep 7.52am ) – Andermatt (Arr 10.46)

Andermatt ( Dep 10.50 am) – Goschenen (Arr 11.05am) ( cog wheel train)

    Goschenen ( Dep 11.10am) – Lucerne …Gotthard panaromic express.

Is these connections doable? Moreover with luggage…

My actual destination is from Zermatt to Zurich. I was trying this route as it’s scenic and I am having a Swiss pass…

    Thanks and regards,

    Sanjoy
