Hi Leed1,
From the Zurich Airport to Wengen, you can travel via Bern. In this case you have to buy a point to point ticket from the Airport to Bern, all the other part of the route is free.
If you want to travel via Lucerne, you have to get a train ticket from the Airport to Lucerne. At http://www.myswissalps.com/goldenpass/gettingthere you can read about the Lucerne – Interlaken route.
You can check the validity map of the Regional Pass Bernese Oberland here: http://www.myswissalps.com/regionalpassberneseoberland/validity.
I hope this helps,

Thanks!
Does the regional pass “Bernese-Oberland” cover more than the “Swiss travel pass” in this area?
I will be traveling in Wengen – Lauterbrunnen area, planning on doing the main attractions there (Murren, Grindelwald, Harder Kulm) does the Bernese-Oberland pass has any advantage over Swiss travel pass?
Thank you for the help!

Hi Leed1,
Regional Pass Bernese Oberland has a smaller validity area than the Swiss Travel Pass. But within the Jungfrau region it gives you more discount than the Swiss Travel Pass.
You can check the details here: http://www.myswissalps.com/regionalpassberneseoberland/validity and http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/validity.
The prices of the passes are quite similar: http://www.myswissalps.com/regionalpassberneseoberland/price and http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/price.
If you are unsure which pass to choose, you can make calculations with the help of our spreadsheet: http://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass.
I hope this helps,
Ildiko

If you are travelling ONLY around the Berner Oberland pass area for most of your trip, the BO pass is better value than the Swiss Travel Pass.
A large number of key tourist mountain lines which are not free on STP, are free with BO pass
For example:
- Niesen funicular
- Erlenbach – Stockhorn
- Brienz – Rothorn steam rack railway and the cable car on the north side of the same mountain that takes you down to a different valley and therefore enables free circular trip Brienz – Rothorn – Giswil – Meringen – Brienz
- Schynige Platte rack railway (my favourite trip of all, with locomotives dating from 1914!)
- Harder Kulm
- Beatenbuch – Niederhorn
- Zweisimmen – Rinderberg gondola
- Mannlichen and First cable cars

Iidiko,
On the topic of the two routes from Zurich airport to Wengen, do you have a preference on the route via Bern or Lucerne, in terms of scenery if time is not a factor? Is either route part of one of the scenic train routes (not that most of Switzerland isn’t scenic!)? Thanks!

Luzern – Interlaken is the Brunig Pass route with lake views and some hill climbing. This is considered the ‘scenic route’ between Zurich and the Jungfrau region.
The inter city route via Bern has been modernised to make it faster, this means that some of the track is in tunnels and cuttings. You still see some of the ‘farmland’ type Switzerland, and you will see something of Bern city and the Thunersee

Here are two of my views of the Brunig Pass line in the mountains (note that I took the pictures some years ago – the trains no longer look like this)
In the picture with a green field to the left – we were staying in a converted barn just across the field which was very quiet and scenic
