About tickets and reservations
You can buy a point-to-point ticket for the GoldenPass route, or you can travel for free or discounted with a rail pass. See here for guided tours and packages.
In addition to your pass or ticket, you may have to pay for seat reservations. Reservations are usually not obligatory on the GoldenPass route. This is how it works for each section.
Luzern-Interlaken Express between Lucerne and Interlaken
- Reservations on the Lucerne - Interlaken leg (Luzern-Interlaken Express) are not required, not even in high season.
- If you do want to make reservations, you can do so through the website of the Zentralbahn.
Regional trains between Interlaken and Zweisimmen
- Reservations for regional trains on the Interlaken - Zweisimmen leg are not required, except for groups of 10 or more.
- Reservations cost CHF 9 per person and CHF 7 per person for a group of 10 or more.
GoldenPass Panoramic and GoldenPass Belle Époque between Zweisimmen and Montreux
- Reservations for the GoldenPass Panoramic and GoldenPass Belle Époque trains on the Zweisimmen - Montreux leg are not required, but recommended in high season and mandatory for groups of 10 or more.
- Reservations cost CHF 9 per person and CHF 7 per person for a group of 10 or more.
- VIP seats for the GoldenPass Panoramic between Zweisimmen and Montreux have to be reserved and you'll pay a surcharge. Availability of these seats is limited and not guaranteed. Trains with VIP seats usually run in weekends. If such weekend VIP seats are available, they can be booked one week ahead through the website of the railway company MOB. For non-weekend days, you can ask if VIP seats are available at a local railway station and make your reservations at the spot.
GoldenPass Express between Interlaken and Montreux
- Reservations for 1st and 2nd class seats in the GoldenPass Express train between Interlaken and Montreux are not required, but recommended in high season and mandatory for groups of 10 people or more.
- 1st or 2nd class reservations cost CHF 20 per person. They cost CHF 17 per person for a group of 10 or more.
- Traveling in the Prestige class requires a 1st class ticket plus an additional reservation supplement of CHF 35 per person. Catering packages should be reserved in advance, regardless of the class you travel in.
