Making the most of 2 days in Interlaken area

Short summary – read this first

Madhu is planning a two-day trip to Interlaken and one day at Zermatt, looking for advice on how to explore the area. They want to know the best way to reach Staubachfall waterfall from Lauterbrunnen station and how many of their planned trips will be free with a Saver Day Pass. Madhu is also open to suggestions for other attractions to visit during their limited time.

Key takeaways:
  • You can walk to Staubachfall waterfall from Lauterbrunnen railway station in about 15 minutes.
  • Most trips, except for Harder Kulm, are free with the Saver Day Pass.
  • The entire Lauterbrunnen-Grütschalp-Mürren circuit is free with the Saver Day Pass, excluding side trips to Schilthorn, Almendhubel, and Trümmelbach Falls.

    Hello,

This is my first trip to Switzerland and I am planning to stay at Interlaken for 2 days & 1 day at zermatt .

I need help and guidance for my Interlaken trip.

I am planning to explore all this place during my stay.

    1.Harder Kulm

    2.St Beatus Caves

3.Lauterbrunnen- Staubachfall waterfall & Trümmelbach Falls

    4.Lake Thun & Lake Brienz

    a) Can you suggest me the best way to reach Staubachfall waterfall from Lauterbrunnen railway station.

    b) I am also thinking of buying saver day pass for 1 day but can you please tell me which all trips that i have mentioned above i can travel for free with my saver day pass .

Maps for GA area validity are very confusing & i am not able to understand which train, bus & boat are going to be free of cost during my trip to Harder Kulm, St Beatus Caves, Lauterbrunnen- Staubachfall waterfall & Trümmelbach Falls to both the waterfalls and boat trip to both the lakes Brienz & thun.

    c) Is their any place that i am missing out during my trip that is worth visiting then please do let me know.

It would be of great help if you could help me .

    Thank You,

    Have a Nice Day

    Regards,

    Madhu

    Hi Madhu,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps!

    a) You can walk there in 15 minutes. This walk passes the fall: http://www.myswissalps.com/hi king/lauterbrunnen-stechelberg.

    b) Basically all travel except Harder Kulm is free. The map you can download here is the best reference: http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass/validity. The legend in the bottom explains exactly what the lines mean, and you can zoom in to see more details.

    c) That would be a long list, sorry 🙂 Three days is not nearly enough to see all places, but it is enough to have a wonderful time, especially if the weather cooperates with your plans.

    Hi Madhu

From Lauterbrunnen a very nice circuit to do is to Grütschalp (cable car), Mürren (train), Gimmelwald (cable car), Stechelberg (cable car), Lauterbrunnen (bus). From Mürren you can easily visit Schilthorn (don’t miss The Thrill Walk at Birg) and even Allmendhubel if you have time. In between Stechelberg and Lauterbrunnen the bus stops at the Trummelbach Falls. Well worth a look. The entire circuit except the “side-trips” are free with the Saver Day Pass.

    Hello rockoyster,

Thank you sooo much rockoyster for suggesting and sharing so much valuable information about Lauterbrunnen.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for planning my 1 day trip to Lauterbrunnen on my behalf now i have to just go and enjoy my trip .

Thank so much for doing that for me 🙂

Can you just confirm one more time that the entire circuit is going to free with the saver day pass.

Lauterbrunnen-Grütschalp-Mürren-Schiltorn-Gimmelwald-Stechelberg-Lauterbrunnen (all the train, bus & cable car from Mürren to Schiltorn are going to be included in saver day pass or i have to pay separately for cable car )

If i start my journey around 9:00 to 9:30 am in the morning will i be able to complete my journey by 14:00 pm . I don’t want to rush from one place to another . I should have enough time to enjoy everything or i should start my journey early in the morning. what is your onion about this ??

Once again Thank you a lot rockoyster for the information you have shared & your guidance also .

    Have a wonderful day 🙂

Sorry to raise your hopes and disappoint you but when I said “The entire circuit except the “side-trips” are free with the Saver Day Pass” I meant the “side-trips” not included for free are Schilthorn, Almendhubel and Trummelbach Falls. The circuit is free and still worth doing and can be achieved in your timeframe.
