Hi,
Maybe I’m reading this wrong, but when I did a price comparison for the eight day consecutive pass, it’s still less expensive with Happy Rail than with the 20% discount. ($691 USD with the discount on EuroRail compared to $665 USD for Happy Rail.)

Or…..do you have to complete the booking to actually see the discount? Which is, I think, the right answer 😬

Hi Tami,
You need to add the pass(es) to your shopping cart and then under “Promo code or gift card” apply the coupon code that I mentioned in my first post. For your pass that brings down the price from $691 to $552.80.
Just to be sure as you said “EuroRail”, you did go to the page below right? That is Rail Europe.

Can you try again?

Yes, It’s RailEurope. Debating whether we need first class.

I am an Indian national currently residing in Bahrain and planning to visit Switzerland alongwith with my daughter, an Indian national who is currently residing in USA. Can my daughter buy the swiss pass with 20% discount on First class for me as the offer appears to be only for travellers from USA , Mexico and Canada

Hi Jeyaraman,
I’m afraid it’s not possible. The offer is valid only for residents of the United States, Canada, and Mexico as Arno stated. Your daughter might be able to buy one for herself. You (or both) could benefit from the other promotion: http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/100-off-swiss-travel-pass-other-passestickets.

Does this pass include the cog railway at Mt. Rigi and Mt. Pilatus.
I assume the pass includes the lake boats on lake Lucerne

Many thanks Chantal. From your past experience are such discounts likely to be extended to GCC area countries in near future?
Warm regards, Jeyaraman

The Kräbel to Rigi Scheidegg cableway is free and the Pilatus cableway and cogwheel train will be 50% discounted. The pass does indeed include the boats on Lake Lucerne.
More about the validity of the Swiss Travel Pass can be found here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity.

Thanks. Do you know if those cog wheel trains will be available in the first week of May?

Hi Jeyaraman,
I’m afraid that my past experience doesn’t go beyond November last year. Maybe Arno knows.

Hi Jeyaraman,
Well, it’s hard to predict. You can’t be 100% sure, but I don’t expect any new promotions in the short term as there are a lot of them already. In the past years there have been more Swiss Travel Pass promotions for North America than for the rest of the world. There have also been other promotions that were not available in North America though.

Many thanks Arno. Really appreciate your assistance

What is the benefit of Swiss Travel Pass for second class? Does it cover all trains , busses and museums as well?

Hi Gail,
The 2nd class Swiss Travel Pass has the exact same benefits as the 1st class rail pass – except that you are in 2nd class on the trains. The differences between the two are quite small – explained here. Mostly the benefit with 1st is a quieter cabin.

I”m really hoping for another promotion for later this year. I am traveling in August 2018 and it looks like the current 20% savings is only good for travel starting by June…

It is possible another will come out but it is unlikely to offer a discount in peak travel season (July and August).
