What are your plans in Zermatt? Are you planning to take the cogwheel train up to Gornergrat? Aside from Gornergrat, you can also do excursion to Sunnegga and Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. Alternatively, you can take an early connection to Zurich and make a stop in one of the stations along the way. Bern is a lovely city to explore.

Aside from Gronergrat, we plan to do some walk from Rothenbodern to Rifflesee, or may be the whole 5 lakes hike.

Ps. Just one more question, can Swiss half fare card (120 CHF) discount 50% to the Gornergrat train and the Glacier paradise route as well ? We do not have the swiss pass, but we are thinking to buy Swiss half fare card (120 CHF) ** not the traveler half fare card**

A short stay in Zermatt risks poor weather blocking good views of the Matterhorn. Just stay in Zermatt before leaving for Zurich

Thank you ! now we rest assure that we won’t purchase the wrong type, as the Swiss half fare and the 1/2 fare travel card can be confused because of the name and in the app of SBB only showing the 1/2 fare travel card so we are not 100 % sure
