Short summary – read this first

Galvgirl is planning a trip to the Berner Oberland area from May 20-24 and is looking for easy walks to see wildflowers. They need recommendations on accessible trails that offer beautiful scenery during their visit.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider the Mountain View Trail from Lauterbrunnen to Mürren for an easy hike with stunning views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau.
  • Schynige Platte will not be accessible in late May, as the railway opens only in July.
  • Mürren and Gimmelwald are excellent alternatives for beautiful flower viewing at this time.

    Hello Galvgirl,

I agree with 1960man! Schynige platte is very well known for beautiful flowers but it’s maybe to early in the year! Maybe the area of Mürren or Gimmelwald (is less high than the Schynige Platte) could be a possibility?!

    Have agreat trip!

    Hello Galvgirl,

One of my all time favorites, as an easy walk with breathtaking views is the ‘Mountain View Trail’. From Lauterbrunnen, you take the gondola up to Grütschalp. From there, you will find the Mountain View Trail, which leads you all the way to Mürren. It is approximately a 2 hr walk. The views of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau are amazing. With respect to flowers, late May might still be a bit early, but hopefully you will see some!

    Wishing you a wonderful trip!
