Best/scenic train route from Zermatt to Paris?
Josh is planning a family trip to Zermatt in December and wants to travel to London by rail afterward. He's looking for advice on scenic train routes from Zermatt to Paris, considering options like Geneva, Bern, Basel, or Lausanne. Recommendations to enhance their experience by adding overnight stays have sparked his interest.
- Consider taking the Glacier Express from Zermatt to Chur or St. Moritz for stunning views, and plan an overnight stay there.
- Traveling from Zermatt to Montreux and then taking the Golden Pass train can offer beautiful scenery; consider staying a night in Interlaken or Lucerne.
- Look into the scenic Lötschberg RegioExpress through Goppenstein as another great option with an overnight stop in Spiez or Interlaken.
- The Swiss Travel Pass might be beneficial if planning multiple train trips, as it covers many scenic routes and discounts.

My family will be in Zermatt in December and wish to travel to London by rail after our time in Switzerland.
It appears we can select various train routes to Paris from Zermatt and are looking for advice on which would be the most scenic or pleasurable. We could route the journey so we end up on TGV from any of the following to Paris: Geneva, Bern, Basel or Lausanne.
Does anyone have any specific recommendations on which routing would be the most scenic for this family that has not scene europe by rail before?
Thank you all for any advice!
