Honeymoon 4 day itinerary from Interlaken

Short summary – read this first

Anish Jain from India is heading to Switzerland for his honeymoon from February 14th to 18th. He plans to stay in Interlaken and is seeking advice on activities for each day, including visiting Jungfraujoch and Mount Titlis, and asks about traveling to Zermatt. He's also curious about how best to use the Swiss Travel Pass during his stay.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider having a romantic spa evening in Interlaken on your arrival day or book a special Valentine’s dinner.
  • When visiting Jungfraujoch, stop at Kleine Scheidegg to acclimatize and enjoy the view; plan your route carefully for the best experience.
  • With a late flight on your last day, consider visiting Mount Titlis on the way to Zurich instead of returning to Interlaken.
  • To maximize your trip, if you have an extra day, think about visiting Bern or taking the Golden Pass train to Montreux.
  • If unsure which rail pass to choose, finalize your itinerary first to determine if the Swiss Travel Pass or Half Fare Card is more economical.

    Hello All

I am from India and am traveling to Switzerland from the 14th to 18th of February, 2019 for my Honeymoon Trip. I am both very excited and very nervous about the trip.

I am sharing with you my iternary and would be very grateful if you could help me with it .

I will be staying in Interlaken for all four nights.

My itinerary as of now is

Day 1 – 14th Feb – Travel from Paris to Basel . Activate Swiss Pass and then travel from Basel to Interlaken. I should reach interlaken by 4 o clock

First question – Can anyone recommend any activity in Interlaken that can be done on the 14th evening .

Day 2 – Trip to Jungfrujoch mountains.

Question – Should i stop at any mid stations while travelling from interlaken to jungfrijoch and what should be the route one should take . Also from where do i check wether the Jungfrujoch excursion is not closed for this day ?

Days 3 – Trip to Mount Titlis

Question – Should i cover the Lucerne lake on the same day or one should be happy with Mount Titlis

Day 4 – trip to Zermat( I am open to other suggestions for this day ?)

Question – Route one should take, Also is Interlaken to Zermat a full day job or one could cover more spots to make use of the day

Day 5 – I have my flight from Zurich at 9 o clock in the night . Also my Swiss pass expires on this day . Should i leave directly from Interlaken for Zurich Airport or is there some other option available.

Your inputs will be very appreciated .

    Thanks a lot

    Anish Jain

    Hi Anish

What a wonderful choice to come to Switzerland for your honeymoon trip! I am sure you and your wife will have an unforgettable time 🙂

I see that your trip is already next week, and you already have accommodation and a travel pass which is great.

    My suggestions are:

Day 1 – 14th Feb. Something that would be super romantic is to have a spa and dinner evening at this magnificent hotel in Interlaken: http://www.victoria-jungfrau.ch

Just an idea as I’m not sure they offer this without accommodation. You might need to call them specially as we are so close to Valentine’s day!

If not I am sure that there will be other romantic restaurants in Interlaken that would have a Valentine’s day package (but make sure you book in advance!)

Day 2 – When going up to Jungfraujoch, because it’s so high, you might want to stop at Kleine Scheidegg to acclimatise and maybe have some food (specially if you’re coming from lower altitudes). You can go up the Grindelwald route and come down via Wengen to get the best views of both valleys. It’s open year round, but to check more details on the route, etc. please go to this link: http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfraujoch

    Day 3 – Titlis http://www.myswissalps.com/ti tlis

This will be a long trip from Interlaken, it is possible to do both activities on Lake Lucerne and Mount Titlis, but you might want to limit it to one or the other since it will be quite a long day.

For this day and all other days, make sure you have a look at the timetable to plan your itinerary out in detail and allow enough time to get to where you want to go: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

Day 4 – it will take almost 3 hours to travel to Zermatt, do you have to return to Interlaken? If you plan to go to Zermatt, I would recommend you stay there the night, this will be much more feasible.

In Zermatt I would recommend going to the Gornergrat Hotel Kulm for a meal and maybe even staying there, the views of the surrounding mountains are spectacular.

If you have to return to Interlaken, then I would recommend you skip Zermatt as you won’t have time to do much except be on a train (unless you wake up very early!), and maybe go to Schilthorn Pitzgloria instead. More information here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sc hilthorn

I hope this is helpful, have a fabulous honeymoon AND Valentine’s day in Switzerland and don’t forget to post a review of your trip on our forum!

    Congratulations.

Rather than making a long return day trip to Titlis you could perhaps make that on your way back to Zurich seeing your flight is not until 9:00pm. You could leave your bags at Luzern Station.

    Hi Maria and hello rockoyster

Thank you for your suggestions, I do hope to have a memorable and wonderful trip 😉

Maria – I would sure consider on your suggestion for a hot water spa on valentines day , sure seems romantic 🙂

Question – I had read somewhere about hotpot breinz – Balmer Hotel , do u have any idea if could try that ?

Rockoyster – Thank-you for your suggestion – It really does make sense to make use of the last day rather than just travelling back to Zurich.

Question – If i do this , I would have a spare day to spend in Swiss. How would you recommend I Spend the extra day ?

Also just a quick question- from the iternary, what do u feel is a better option – a swiss pass or a half fare card ?

Thanks a lot for your inputs.

    Hi Anishjain009,

With an extra day, you could perhaps visit the town of Bern, perhaps a mountain nearer to Interlaken like Schilthorn or, if you are interested in train trips, try the Golden Pass trip to Montreux.

As for as the best rail pass, this will depend on your final itinerary. Once you’ve finalized your itinerary you can check which pass will save you the most money. http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass

If you take the Swiss Travel Pass for 4 days, and visit Titlis on day 5, then you may want to get just a regular ticket for Basel to Interlaken and then use the Swiss Travel Pass on days 2 – 5.
