A traveler is planning a hiking trip in Switzerland from June 30 to July 2 with a friend. They have a route planned including Rigi and Titlis but are concerned about potential rain and cloudy weather affecting their views. They're considering alternatives and asking for tips on how to adapt their plans based on the weather forecasts.
Key takeaways:
Check the weather forecast the night before to make plans based on the latest updates.
The Swiss Travel Pass can be useful for a range of trips, including recent suggestions for Ticino and Lucerne activities.
If the weather is cloudy, the Engelberg lakes hike is still an option, but be cautious of thunderstorm forecasts.

Me and my friend planning to hike this 30 june until 2 july. I have planned rigi panorama walk, titlis snd trubsee and snother day accordingvto weather.
It looks like Thursday is ok for rigi. Friday raining. Saturday no rain but very cloudy on titlis.
Any chance we will see titlis? The trubsee 4 lakes csn be done on cloudy/fog day? Any other alternative.
I planned to buy 1+1 tellpass but not sure. I can cancel hotel and choose some place else but everywhere looks the same. In ticino looks better but raining on friday and 30 degrees in all days.
So you’re looking at the forecasts for June 30-July 3? At this point (June 26) they’re not very reliable yet. You can put reasonable trust in the forecast about 3 days ahead. Even then things can change quickly, for the better or worse :-). Please see https://www.myswissalps.com/weather/forecast.
I wouldn’t change plans and cancel bookings if I were you. What you can do:
Make a list of both good-weather and bad-weather options.
Check the forecast the evening before and then choose what to do next day. Also look closely at local forecasts (the weather at Titlis can be different than that in Lucerne at the same time) and at the forecast per hour/time of the day. Because even on a day with a cloud-and-rain icon, there can be long sunny spells in which you can hike or visit a mountain top. Warm summer days in Switzerland typically start off pretty clear, with clouds building in the course of the day and the possibility of showers or thunder storms in the (late) afternoon.
a day trip to the Ticino area if weather is better there, either by quick trains or by using the Gotthard mountain route. Your Tell-Pass would cover this route as far as Göschenen.
I hope this provides some ideas and reassurance.

so maybe I will leave it as is with booking hope for the best (staying in weggis).
As of a rainy day (i guess rain with breaks) I thought of the following all with tellpass:
– have a cruise to luzern
– hang around luzern for 2 hours (i have been there already but my friend do not)
– take 1 hour train to Merinigen and from there short bus/walk to Aareschlucht.
Anything else?
in a cloudy day with no rain is the 4 lakes hike in engelberg is a good option or not? Any other easy hike in cloudy day?
We are not into museums, factories..
Another alternative is ticino (pay extra) but is looks like very hot there and long ride. Maybe go to Cimetta and hike down to cardada? What else not to feel the heat?
Weggis is lovely, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Your plans for cloudy weather sound good. And yes, as I mentioned you can hike near Engelberg if it’s cloudy; just be careful with thunder storms.
If you don’t like heat, Ticino may not be your best choice. It’s one of the warmer regions of Switzerland.
Dine in restaurant Zee in Weggis. I had an excellent meal there.
The Glasi glass factory in Hergiswil is fun, but you indicated that you’re not into factories/museums. But just in case: http://www.glasi.ch/en/.
The Ballenberg Museum near Meiringen is an open-air museum. You can stroll in beautiful scenery. It doesn’t feel museum-like to me: http://www.ballenberg.ch/en/. You could combine it with a visit to the Aare Gorge.
We will also be in Lucerne for 4 nights starting June 30, and noticed the weather forecast. We will do as you advise, and look at the weather the night before to see if there’s a clear period to go up Rigi, etc. Do you have any particular weather apps to recommend for Lucerne/Swiss Alps?
We just noticed that our SBB (swiss pass) link disappeared from the apple wallet. We went back to the email to add it back but its not adding to the wallet for some reason. We also went to the information booth but they also werent able to help. Hope the QR code that appear on the original link may provide access to travel. We purchased 6 day pass
As a tourist you don’t need a SwissPass account. It can be confusing, as the name looks a lot like the Swiss Travel Pass for tourists. You can read about the differences at http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/details.
The thread ‘Lucerne activities with rain & cloud forecasts’ is closed to new replies.
