Saver Day Pass or regular ticket Zurich-Lucerne
Melissa is planning a trip to Switzerland from late September to early October and has bought an 8-Day Swiss Travel Pass. She needs advice on whether to purchase a point-to-point ticket or a Saver Day Pass for her first day, as well as some tips for their itinerary, which includes popular destinations like Mt. Titlis, Jungfrau, and Glacier Express.
- Buy a point-to-point ticket from Zurich to Lucerne for Day 1 since you’ll just be exploring the city that day.
- You don’t need to make seat reservations for the Lucerne to Interlaken train, as it's not peak season.
- Reserve a seat for everyone, including children, on the Glacier Express for a comfortable ride.
- Hike from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg may take around 2 hours with a 4-year-old, so it should be fine to head to Jungfraujoch around noon.

Hi there,
Good day to you! My name is Melissa.
We will be making a trip to Switzerland end of Sept – early Oct. We have purchased the 8-Day Swiss Travel Pass. However, we need an extra day and are not sure whether should we purchase the point-to-point ticket or the Saver Day Pass.
Our itinerary is as follows:
Day 1 – Arrive in Zurich and travel straight to Lucerne. Spend entire day around Lucerne Old Town.
Day 2 – Mt Titlis (Golden Round Trip)
Day 3 – Stanserhorn then proceed to Wengen
Day 4 – Jungfrau / Männlichen
Day 5 – Schilthorn
Day 6 – First – Bachalpsee, then proceed to Zermatt
Day 7 – Gornergrat and Sunnegga
Day 8 – Matterhorn Glacier Paradise
Day 9 – Back to Zurich via Glacier Express
We were thinking of using the 8-Day STP from Day 2 onwards. Would it be better to purchase a Saver Day Pass or point-to-point ticket for Day 1? Other suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Melissa
