Hello Sonihm and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

The only way know for sure is to read “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math. The spreadsheet also includes links to all the available passes.

    Hello Sonhim,

The Swiss Travel Pass could be handy for you, as it allows comfortable travel with normally no purchase of tickets needed and covers lots of your itinerary.
    http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass

For the day of arrival or departure you could use a Saver Day Pass to cover the extra day.
    http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass

For detailed calculations use the spreadsheet in Rockoyster’s link.

    Also see:

    http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard

Best and get back to us for further input.

    1. If I read it correctly, Swisspass doesn’t include jungfroungch rail. Is that correct?

    2. Do I need to purchase swiss pass for 15 yrs child?

    3. If I decided to go with Half pass, Do I need to add ONLY FAMILY PASS for 15 yrs child or any other JUNIOUR or SIMILAR PASS NEEDED?

    4. How much is for 18 yrs youth half pass — $120 or $100?

    5. For both Swiss and/or hald pass, Do I need to order in advance to get it deliver in USA? Or Should I able ot purchase when i am in switzerland?

    6. is there a site that shows all connection? e.g Wengen to Grindlwald- SBB only shows train route, I am looking for ALL in onw website, train, bus, tram connection?

    Hi Sonihm,

    1. That’s correct. The Swiss Travel Pass offers free traveling as far as Wengen/Grindelwald, and a 25% discount for the remaining leg: https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass/ validity. None of the rail passes fully covers the Jungfraujoch trip though. To know which pass is best, you’ll have to take each and every trip into account, following the guidelines on the calculation page mentioned by Rockoyster.

    2. and 3. Children up to and including 15 years old can get a free Swiss Family Card, which allows free traveling on all routes: myswissalps.com/swissf amilycard. This combination works with both the Swiss Travel Pass as well as with the Swiss Half Fare Card. You won’t need any other tickets or passes for the 15 year old.

    4. There’s no youth version of the Swiss Half Fare Card, if that’s what you mean. There is an adult version of the Swiss Travel Pass. Please find explanations and prices at https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisstravelpass/ price and https://www.myswissalp s.com/swisshalffarecar d/price.

    5. The passes can be bought in Switzerland, but it’s much easier to get them online before you leave. You won’t have to spend time on purchases after arrival that way, and you’ll have an electronic PDF backup in case your printed pass gets lost or damaged. The price overviews I linked to above show several retailers.

6.Yes, there is. Our timetable page at myswissalps.com/timeta ble explains how to use the timetable. The section under “Further options (advanced timetable)” tells how to change the transport mode, for example. Apart from that, you can study separate timetables for many mountain routes/attractions. When using the timetable, please make sure you use the correct spelling. I noticed many spelling errors in your itinerary, and in some cases I wasn’t even sure which town or mountain you meant. The timetable may not recognize your typos, or assume you mean an entirely different place and come up with a route you’re not looking for ;-).

    Thanks for the info.

    1. Is this link to order youth(18 yrs) half far card for $100 (instead of $120 for adult)? Is this card has any limitation ? does it requires any renewal?

    http://www.sbb.ch/en/travelca rds-and-tickets/railpasses/hal f-fare-travelcard/half-fare-travelcard-youth.html

    2. If I buy ticket using http://www.sbb.ch” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow”> SBB website in advanced for specific time of train( e.g Zurich to Lucerne at 7:00PM). Is itpossible to change time when i am at Zurich to 8PM and or earlier train?

    3. Do you suggest me to purchase ticket in advance or should I purchase from station @ 30 mis to 1 hour prior to departure? does any of trains filled up or special connection(junfrounch) required advanced ticket? I am planning for various trains rides,

Zurich-lucerne, lucerne to interlaken, interlaken to wen, wnegen- jungfrounch, various interlaken area’s train and tram, Interlaken -Geneva.

    4. Is there a daily pass or pay per ride to visit geneva city? and genva city to geneva airport?

    1. That link is actually for the domestic half-fare card. For the Swiss Half fare Card for tourists you want SBB's tourist oriented shop. There is just the one price – no youth discount.

    2. As long as you don’t buy a Supersaver ticket you can take any train you like on that route. Regular tickets are valid for a whole day.

    3. The choice is yours. Tickets don’t sell out apart from Jungfraujoch sometimes. Buying on line is very convenient but there are also ticket machines which are easy to use at most stations. I highly recommend the SBB Mobile app (bit.ly/2ICIUHi) to plan your travel, find fares* and buy tickets as required. For Jungfraujoch reservations read this thread.

    4. For Geneva see http://www.geneva.info/transp ort/card/.

    1. One more question, Buying ticket in advance is cheaper than buying on same day ticket?

2.For Wngen-Jungfrounch-Grindlewald — Is there discount , if I take early morning train in AUGUST? when I check price, it shows same price

    3. For geneva , I am planning to go from interlaken to geneva in the early afternoon via train (not staying in hotel). My onward flight is at 9PM. I have few hours to explore geneva, do I still get free 80 mins pass from train station. Any other option for geneva tour?

    4. For LKucerne, if i am staying one night at hostel, do I get free local public transoport? Is yes, is it for both days? day of arrival and day of leaving?

    5. For Lucenrne, and interlaken — Is there boat ride that takes half fare card?

    1. Swiss train ticket prices don’t change with time (not counting supersaver tickets which can be available well in advance but tend to disappear close to travel time).

    2. You will get 50% discount with Swiss Half-fare Card. You will find the Jungfrau Pricelist here. You want Jungfraujoch und zurück nach Grindelwald (and back to Grindelwald).

    3. Sorry I’m out of my depth already on that one.

    4. You normally get a Lucerne Card on checkin and it is valid that day and you day of departure. It has limited coverage.

    5. The Swiss Half-fare Card is valid for rides on Lakes Luzern, Brienz and Thun. Have you studied the map and read the text (scroll down) at http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard/validi ty?

    1. For jungfrounch, Is it possible to purchase ticket in advance with specific time? Does it allow to change time or date without any penalty? in case weather is not good on specific time?

    2. Does any other tour/activity required advanced booking in interlaken ,lucerne or geneva area?

E.g Paragliding and jungfrouch in interlaken, anything else?

Is there any advance booking needed in geneva for UN building or atom museum etc?

    Hi Sonhim,

    1. Yes, that’s possible and you can make seat reservations if you want to. They aren’t refundable though, so you’d best arrange for them once you’re pretty sure weather will be good enough: http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfraujoch/tickets.

    2. Most regular trips don’t need any booking: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/reservations. Some panoramic trains, guided tours and sports activities such as paragliding do: http://www.myswissalps.com/ac tivities/sports.

Not that I know of. Supersaver tickets come and go depending demand on a given route. It’s a marketing tool to sell tickets on under-utilised routes/times. You just have to search for the route you want on the day you want and see if a Supersaver fare offer shows up. You migh find a Supersaver one day and the next day it will be sold out, so gone.

Be aware that Supersaver tickets only apply to a specific train departure so if you plans change you are going to have to buy a replacement ticket.

Use the timetable on the SBB website (bit.ly/2HH1U7B) or the highly-recommended SBB Mobile app (bit.ly/2ICIUHi) to plan your travel, find fares* and buy tickets if required. If you are not familiar with using the timetable it will pay to first read the instructions on this page – http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable. *SBB website shows half-fare prices by default, mobile app allows you to nominate full or half-fare and is also smart enough to offer you the Saver Day Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass) if that offers the best fare.

You can’t stop off along the way with a Supersaver ticket if that’s your question. I’d say the chances of a Supersaver ticket on that route is close to non-existent anyway.

With a regular ticket you can break and resume you journey at any of the station listed in the attached.

    Hi Sonihm,

    1. Those tickets are not available to the mountain peaks. For other destinations, you’ll have to check for each trip separately: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/switzerland.

    2. No Supersaver tickets (never saw one anyway). There’s only one company operating on each lake. For further information including links to timetables, please see:

3./4. Those are very different experiences, you’ll have to decide for yourself which appeals to you most. One is not better than the other, just different. Please see:

    5. You could filter on the attraction type “sport” here: http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfrauregion/activitie s. Is that what you mean? The same page also lists a lot of hikes you can consider.
