Interrail Switzerland FAQ
-
How do I know if the Interrail Switzerland Pass is my best option?
If you have planned a lot of traveling in Switzerland, mainly by train, then this pass is worth your consideration. You’ll save money as point-to-point tickets are more expensive.
If you prefer flexible and ticketless traveling, that’s another reason for a pass like this. You don’t need to buy tickets for each trip.
If you’ll also be making bus and mountain trips in Switzerland, we advise looking into the Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Half Fare Card instead.
-
Do I need reservations for Interrail in Switzerland?
No, you rarely need reservations. You can board any train on the included routes. Only a few scenic trains and some international trains require a reservation.
-
When should I buy the Interrail Switzerland Pass?
You can buy 11 months before traveling. Passes do not sell out. You can still buy them a few days before your trip.
-
How will the pass be delivered?
Interrail passes will be delivered via e-mail and stored on your phone in the “Eurail/Interrail Rail Planner app” (mobile pass). Sometimes, there may still be an option for a paper pass. We don’t recommend that. Delivery will be slower and there’s the increased risk of losing the pass.
Note that a mobile pass requires you to have internet access at least once every 3 days.
-
Who is the Interrail Switzerland Pass for?
You can buy the pass if you live in Europe, but not in Switzerland. If you do not live in Europe, a Eurail pass is a similar alternative.
-
Are the travel days consecutive or non-consecutive?
You can select travel days however you like: consecutive or non-consecutive.
-
Is the 1-month validity period a calendar month?
No. You can start the 1-month validity period at any day of the month you like. This doesn’t have to be the first day of a calendar month.
