    Hi,

I plan to visit Jungfraujoch on Dec-14th. I have a few questions hope someone can clarify:

    1. From what I been reading, most people recommend booking the ticket the day before or on the same day after checking the weather / webcam. How likely is it the ticket will be sold-out during December?

    2. I plan to take the train up from Interlaken OST via Lauterbrunnen, then take the gondola down to Grindelwald before returning to Interlaken OST. Is this a good plan or should I switch to gondola up and train down?

    3. In case the weather is bad on top, any recommendation on how to spend the day in Interlaken or surrounding area? I will have my EURail pass to use for that day.

    Thanks!

    Hi TravisL,

    1) Although the winter season and skiing will already start in the middle of December, I am quite sure that tickets won’t be sold if you buy them 1 day before your trip to the Jungfraujoch. Read more here: http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfraujoch/tickets.

    2) I think it is a good plan. At http://www.myswissalps.com/jungfraujoch/gettingthere you can read about the different route options to the Jungfraujoch in detail.

    3) With Eurail Global Pass you can reach Thun (http://www.myswissalps.com/thun) or Brienz (http://www.myswissalps.com/brienz) for free. You can also visit Bern (http://www.myswissalps.com/bern) or Lucerne (http://www.myswissalps.com/lucerne) in case of rain. Thanks for the great information!

Regarding things to do around Interlaken, since I have visited Bern and Lucerne by the time I got to Interlaken, I’m curious is the EURail pass can take me to Grindelwald or Lauterbrunnen for free and if either one worth visiting.

    Thanks!
