What to expect of the Albula valley

The Albula valley, in de middle of Graubünden, is covered with forests and surrounded by mountains over 3000 m high. There's a 1000 m difference in height between Tiefencastel, where the valley starts, and Preda, where the Albula Pass begins. The result of this is that the railway and only road in the valley are quite special in some places. Several spiral loops and tunnels have been built to allow the trains to gain height. Both the Bernina Express and the Glacier Express use this railway.
