June trip: which Swiss Travel Pass, guest cards, weather, itinerary

Short summary – read this first

A traveler named miral_chovatia is planning a 10-day trip to Switzerland in June, visiting Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken, and Zermatt. They are unsure whether to purchase an 8-day or 15-day Swiss Travel Pass and are asking for advice on itinerary planning as they want to enjoy outdoor activities without hiking too much.

Key takeaways:
  • Consider purchasing the 15-day Swiss Travel Pass for more flexibility, as it only costs 40 Francs more than the 8-day option.
  • Each guest at participating hotels receives a guest card, which offers free local transport but is limited to a specific area.
  • Review recommended itineraries for ideas on how to structure your 10 days and include must-see attractions like the Gornergrat Bahn and Rhine Falls.

    Hello,

My first trip to Switzerland was in the month of June and it was awesome! Great month to visit. You will have an amazing time:)

Have you compared the different passes yet (Swiss travel pass, Swiss travel pass flex, half fare card etc.)? You can find this info at the top of the page. Travel>Train>Compare passes

Guest card applies to all registered guests at a hotel.

Give us some more details about your plans and travel companions. How many in your group? What are your interests? This will help with providing suggestions for you.

    Regards

The simple way to a perfect Swiss trip

    Dear miral_chovatia,

    Welcome to MySwissAlps.

June is indeed a great time to visit especially if you are keen to do some mountain hiking and outdoor activities. Please refer to our best time to visit guide for useful information: https://www.myswissalps.com/planning/practical/best-time-to-visit/

Whether you need a 8-day or 15-day Swiss Travel Pass depends on your itinerary. You can find further info about the Swiss Travel Pass here: https://www.myswissalps.com/travel-ticket/swiss-travel-pass/

Some destinations/ cities offer free visitors cards to overnight guests. These guestcards provide free local transportation but usually it is limited to a small network.

Below are further links to help you plan your itinerary:

    Zurich: https://www.myswissalps.com/town/zurich/

    Lucerne: https://www.myswissalps.com/town/lucerne/

    Zermatt: https://www.myswissalps.com/town/zermatt/

    Interlaken: https://www.myswissalps.com/town/interlaken/

    Hope this helps.

    Hi miral_chovatia,

    >>> What is Guest card benefits? 1 Guest card can be use by how many people? Also i am planning, Zurich, Lucern, Interlaken and Zermatt for my 10 days

Each overnight guest in Luzern and Interlaken will receive a guest card for their own personal use.

You can find out what the Lucerne Visitor Card and Interlaken Guest Card offer here:

    https://www.luzern.com/en/information/useful-information/visitor-card-lucerne

    https://www.interlaken.ch/en/info-service/gaestekarten/interlaken-guest-card

Neither Zürich nor Zermatt offer free guest cards.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi mira_chovatia,

Travelling to Mürren and Schilthorn is fairly easy with the cable car.  You can find further information here: https://www.myswissalps.com/activity/schilthorn/

I recommend visit Schilthorn first, and stop in Mürren on the way down. Enjoy y pleasant stroll through the village and return to Lauterbrunnen via the train and cableway. You can find information about Mürren here: https://www.myswissalps.com/town/murren/

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Anna

    Hello

    On the 8-day versus 15-day issue, an 8-day pass costs 419 Franks 2nd Class, 15-days costs just 40 Franks more – 459!  Similarly a 1st class 8-day pass is 665 Franks. 723 Franks for 15 days.

In the past I have had 10 or 11 day holidays, but I have always happily bought 15 day STPs.  The flexibility the STP gives is PRICELESS.

    Best wishes

    Roger

    Greetings,

Did you search AirBnB yet? I found a nice place in Lucerne via AirBnB recently. Since you are looking for accommodations with a kitchen this might be the best way to go. I would recommend you book as soon as possible.

    Best regards
