Swiss hiking trails without cable car access

Short summary – read this first

A couple is planning a two-week trip to Spiez in September, using it as a base to explore by trail and boat. They enjoy hiking but are concerned about their itinerary as one of them has a strong fear of cable cars and is looking for easy to moderate hiking trails that don't require cable car access.

Key takeaways:
  • Explore numerous trails in the Jungfrau region accessible by train or bus, such as the Eiger trail and Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg.
  • Utilize online resources that offer route descriptions and filtering options specifically for the Jungfrau region to plan hikes.
  • Consider visiting Zermatt for beautiful walks without needing cable cars.

My wife and I are planning a two-week stay in Spiez in September. Spiez will be our hub and plant to do all our traveling by trail and boat. We love to hike and we’re pulling our itinerary together. The one issue I know we will facing, and hoping it’s not a major impediment, is that my wife is deathly afraid of cable cars. We were wondering if there are any publications that lists easy to moderate trails we can hike up and down and do not require cable car access.

    Thank you
