➤ Berner Oberland Pass validity map 2025

Berner Oberland Pass map 2025

The Berner Oberland Pass allows free or discounted traveling in the Bernese Oberland region and its surroundings. Download the network map for all details.

How the map works

Free and discounted traveling is explained in the upper left corner of the map. In short:

  • Solid lines indicate free traveling.
  • Dotted lines indicate 50% discounted traveling.
  • The letter B indicates another discount percentage. The main exception is the 25% discount for the sections between Grindelwald/Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg/Eigergletscher/Jungfraujoch.

Below the map, you’ll find an overview of “bonus partners”: attractions on which the Berner Oberland Pass provides some discount.

What exactly does the Berner Oberland Pass 2025 cover?

Where the Berner Oberland Pass is valid: the coverage area

The Berner Oberland Pass covers the Bernese Oberland and a few bordering areas. It’s roughly valid between:

  • Bern and Lucerne in the north;
  • Montreux in the south-west;
  • Brig and even Domodossola (Italy) in the south;
  • the Grimsel and Susten Pass in the east.

This includes famous holiday areas such as Interlaken with Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, the Jungfrau Region, the areas of Adelboden, Kandersteg, Lenk and Gstaad, and the mountain region around Meiringen and the Brünig Pass.

Trains, buses and boats that are included

In this entire area, trains, buses, and boats are free: you can hop on and off with your pass.

The Berner Oberland Pass includes all trains that operate on the indicated lines and that are listed in the timetables. The train type (InterCity, local, panoramic) and the operating company do not matter.

Panoramic trains such as the GoldenPass are thus included. Seat reservations or surcharges are not included though.

Mountain excursions

Lots of mountain trips are for free with the Berner Oberland Pass, for example:

Other trips are discounted, the main ones being Harder Kulm, Grindelwald-First, and Jungfraujoch.

Even Titlis, south-east of Lucerne, is discounted.

Urban transport

Urban transport is free in Interlaken and Thun. It’s not covered in other towns on the map, such as Bern and Lucerne.

The main coverage changes 2024 > 2025

In 2025, the Berner Oberland Pass validity differs from that of 2024.

Excursions that are free instead of discounted

The entire Schilthorn cableway ride is free in 2025. In 2024, free travel up to Mürren applied, and there was a fixed discounted fee for Mürren-Schilthorn.

The entire GoldenPass ride between Lucerne, Interlaken and Montreux is free as well in 2025. In 2024, one could travel for free up to Saanen. A 50% discounted ticket was required for the last stretch from Montreux to Saanen.

Excursions that are 50% discounted instead of free

These mountain trips are discounted in 2025 and were free in 2024:

Changed validity for the Jungfraujoch trip

In 2025, you can travel for free up to Grindelwald/Wengen. A 25% discount applies to all routes between Grindelwald/Wengen and Kleine Scheidegg/Eigergletscher/Jungfraujoch.

If you combine your Berner Oberland Pass with a Swiss Half Fare Card, you can use your Swiss Half Fare Card to get a 50% instead of a 25% discount on these stretches.

In 2024, the Berner Oberland Pass offered free travel on all routes up to Eigergletscher, and there was a fixed discounted fee for the last train section Eigergletscher-Jungfraujoch.

The main coverage changes 2025 > 2026

From 2026, the following is no longer included:

  • the train from Brig to Domodossola (Italy)
  • the gondolas from Kandersteg to Oeschinensee
