Me and my friend planning to hike this 30 june until 2 july. I have planned rigi panorama walk, titlis snd trubsee and snother day accordingvto weather.
It looks like Thursday is ok for rigi. Friday raining. Saturday no rain but very cloudy on titlis.
Any chance we will see titlis? The trubsee 4 lakes csn be done on cloudy/fog day? Any other alternative.
I planned to buy 1+1 tellpass but not sure. I can cancel hotel and choose some place else but everywhere looks the same. In ticino looks better but raining on friday and 30 degrees in all days.
any suggestions for me?

Hi bat23!
So you’re looking at the forecasts for June 30-July 3? At this point (June 26) they’re not very reliable yet. You can put reasonable trust in the forecast about 3 days ahead. Even then things can change quickly, for the better or worse :-). Please see https://www.myswissalps.com/weather/forecast.
I wouldn’t change plans and cancel bookings if I were you. What you can do:
- Make a list of both good-weather and bad-weather options.
- Check the forecast the evening before and then choose what to do next day. Also look closely at local forecasts (the weather at Titlis can be different than that in Lucerne at the same time) and at the forecast per hour/time of the day. Because even on a day with a cloud-and-rain icon, there can be long sunny spells in which you can hike or visit a mountain top. Warm summer days in Switzerland typically start off pretty clear, with clouds building in the course of the day and the possibility of showers or thunder storms in the (late) afternoon.
I wouldn’t go up to Titlis (https://www.myswissalps.com/titlis) if it’s very clouded. You can check webcams of the views at the top shortly before leaving: http://www.myswissalps.com/coronavirus/images. You can certainly hike if it’s cloudy and if there’s light drizzle, but you should be very careful if thunder storms are predicted: http://www.myswissalps.com/hiking/etiquette.
Please see http://www.myswissalps.com/lucerne and http://www.myswissalps.com/lucerne/activities for good-weather and bad-weather options. Suggestions for cloudy/rainy days:
- a walk in Lucerne
- boat trips
- a visit to the Swiss Museum of Transport
- a day trip to the Ticino area if weather is better there, either by quick trains or by using the Gotthard mountain route. Your Tell-Pass would cover this route as far as Göschenen.
I hope this provides some ideas and reassurance.
bat23Participant24 posts26 June 2022 at 13:16:16 #943601Thanks for your input!
so maybe I will leave it as is with booking hope for the best (staying in weggis).
As of a rainy day (i guess rain with breaks) I thought of the following all with tellpass:
– have a cruise to luzern
– hang around luzern for 2 hours (i have been there already but my friend do not)
– take 1 hour train to Merinigen and from there short bus/walk to Aareschlucht.
Anything else?
in a cloudy day with no rain is the 4 lakes hike in engelberg is a good option or not? Any other easy hike in cloudy day?
We are not into museums, factories..
Another alternative is ticino (pay extra) but is looks like very hot there and long ride. Maybe go to Cimetta and hike down to cardada? What else not to feel the heat?
ArnoModerator15484 posts26 June 2022 at 14:38:21 #943602Weggis is lovely, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. Your plans for cloudy weather sound good. And yes, as I mentioned you can hike near Engelberg if it’s cloudy; just be careful with thunder storms.
If you don’t like heat, Ticino may not be your best choice. It’s one of the warmer regions of Switzerland.
Some more ideas:
- You may like this city hike in Lucerne: http://www.myswissalps.com/hiking/lucerne.
- Dine in restaurant Zee in Weggis. I had an excellent meal there.
- The Glasi glass factory in Hergiswil is fun, but you indicated that you’re not into factories/museums. But just in case: http://www.glasi.ch/en/.
- The Ballenberg Museum near Meiringen is an open-air museum. You can stroll in beautiful scenery. It doesn’t feel museum-like to me: http://www.ballenberg.ch/en/. You could combine it with a visit to the Aare Gorge.
- Hike from Meggen to Lucerne: http://www.myswissalps.com/hiking/meggen-lucerne.
- Combine a boat ride to the southern area of Lake Lucerne with a visit to Seelisberg, or a hike from Bauen to Seelisberg: http://www.myswissalps.com/hiking/bauen-seelisberg.
- Ride the exciting funicular to Stoos: stoos-muotatal.ch/en/train/stoos-railways/.
DaniPaulParticipant10 posts26 June 2022 at 20:46:43 #943603We will also be in Lucerne for 4 nights starting June 30, and noticed the weather forecast. We will do as you advise, and look at the weather the night before to see if there’s a clear period to go up Rigi, etc. Do you have any particular weather apps to recommend for Lucerne/Swiss Alps?
AnnaModerator6382 posts27 June 2022 at 2:17:15 #943604Hi DaniPaul,
Swiss Meteo provides reliable weather forecast. You can find a list of useful apps here: http://www.myswissalps.com/aboutswitzerland/practical/websites

bat23Participant24 posts27 June 2022 at 11:01:28 #943605Hi
In this link I see raining in Rigi around 15:30 but no thunderstorm appears. However In meteoblue website I see thunderstorm at 17:00.
I plan to reach weggis around 10:30 and then get through vintznau to Rigi kaltbad and make the panorama walk. I guess we will walk around 12:00-15:00.
Does it sound ok? How do I know when thunderstorm should appear thus not too risky?
Day after, friday, supposed to be rainy all day long.
AnnaModerator6382 posts27 June 2022 at 16:55:42 #943606Hi bat23,
I think your plan might work. You can check the Rigi mountain webcams here: http://www.rigi.ch/en/inform/webcams
For rainy day alternatives you can check out the links in Arno’s post.

Anna
SulemanParticipant2 posts27 June 2022 at 17:03:18 #943607We just noticed that our SBB (swiss pass) link disappeared from the apple wallet. We went back to the email to add it back but its not adding to the wallet for some reason. We also went to the information booth but they also werent able to help. Hope the QR code that appear on the original link may provide access to travel. We purchased 6 day pass
AnnaModerator6382 posts27 June 2022 at 17:36:02 #943608Hi Suleman,
Welcome to MySwissAlps.
Do you have the PDF copy sent you by email? As long as you have the QR code it should be fine. You can find more information here: http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/howtouse
If you have further question regarding railpass, please post it in a new thread here: http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/rail
Thanks and regards,
Anna
ArnoModerator15484 posts28 June 2022 at 10:58:06 #943610Hi Suleman,
As a tourist you don’t need a SwissPass account. It can be confusing, as the name looks a lot like the Swiss Travel Pass for tourists. You can read about the differences at http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/details.
